Best of June 2014

Belleview Lutheran Church between early June rain storms

June proved to be a stormy month in this part of the country which can mean dramatic skies for photography.  Those kind of photos dominate the best shots from yours truly this month.  Click on an image for a larger file to view and thanks for checking in!

After the storm passed just off Betts Road west of Mitchell

A geomagnetic storm (G2) also took place in June.  I was able to capture these northern lights over an abandoned homestead not far from Epiphany, SD because of this space weather.

The milky way shining over West Bethany Church which was originally located 10 miles or so from DeSmet, SD.  It has since been relocated to the northeast portion of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Homestead just south of town

A large snapping turtle crossing a county road in north Yankton county after a rain shower.

Mammatus clouds after a storm in Turner county

An impressive incoming cloud structure south of Waubay, SD

Evening sunlight shining through after a storm.  This photo and next are of Buffalo Lake Church's Cemetery in southeast Marshall county
