January 2022

Late January sunset sky with lone prairie windmill

I finished up a road trip west river in early January and then was stuck indoors for most of the rest of the month with other duties and short daylight hours. I was able to get out a couple days late in the month to  explore areas around the Big Sioux River as well as chase an exquisite sunset into Turner County. From these forays come this month's favorite dozen photos. Click on an image for a larger file to view and thanks for stopping by!

December 2020

Sunset sky over the Arc of Dreams in downtown Sioux Falls

December of 2020 was a surprisingly colorful month for early winter in South Dakota. There was little to no snow but plenty of sunrises and sunsets as well as a few frosty days to exercise the camera muscles. Here are 12 favorites from the last month of the ill-fated 2020 for you to check out. Let's hope 2021 is as good as this last one was bad. May 2020

Silhouettes of a tourist and American Bison converge at sunset near a viewpoint along the Sage Creek Wilderness road at Badlands National Park
During the month of May, I was able to take get out often to look for birds, wildflowers and also travel for an extended weekend to the western side of the state. Spring on the prairie is a wonder to behold. New life, spring storms and epic views made for a very photogenic month... And picking just 12 photos to show here was quite difficult. A good problem to work though, in my opinion. As always, click on an image for a larger file to view and thanks for checking in!
