Rooting for the Redlegs

Brandon Phillips avoids Albert Pujols slide while attempting to turn a double play late in the game on Sunday afternoon.

I attended a conference in Louisville last Thursday and Friday and decided to drive up to Cincinnati for the last two games of the Reds vs Cards three game series. 1st place in the National League Central was on the line and I was lucky enough to see the Reds complete the sweep and move from 2nd to 1st. Here are a collection of some of my favorite shots from the weekend. Click on the image for a larger file to view and thanks for stopping by.

I had nosebleed seats for Saturday afternoon so I could get the full ballpark perspective. The shot below is after Brandon Phillips homered early in the game and the place erupted.

This was shot later in the game... I think the top of the 8th inning actually. I added a tilt shift effect to give the shot a unique look.
Sunday afternoon was rainy and I was worried they wouldn't play. I had great seats just beyond the dugout on the first base side. I brought my long lens to see what kind of action shots I could get. I used a makeshift gift bag to cover my camera... Below is a shot of Red's starting pitcher Travis Wood.
Reigning NL MVP Joey Votto gets a single early in the game.
The two best first basemen in the league.
Scott Rolen flashes his gold glove and makes the throw to first for the inning ending out.

Ramon Hernandez hits a solo home run. Look by the head of the lady in the black coat and white hat to see the ball leaving the bat.

Paul Janish lays done a beauty of a bunt.
The Cards walked Joey Votto to load the bases in front of Brandon Phillips late in the game and he made them pay with a double to right.

Jay Bruce followed with a double of his own to break the game open.

Chris Heisey adds a homer in the 8th inning. You can see the ball if you look above and to the left of the Cardinals coach in the dugout.
Aroldis Chapman. The man who throws the hardest in the league. Cool to see him pitch, but he was wild and only topped out at 1oomph.
