Three Cottonwoods silhouetted by the fading evening light.
I generally think March is an ugly month for photography. The snow is melting and the drifts look haggard and dirty as the warmth of the oncoming spring slowly melts them away. There are no leaves on the trees and the fields and pastures are still brown and dead from the long winter. That said, those of us that live here in South Dakota know that some of the most amazing sunsets on earth happen in this state, so I resolved to see if I could be a productive photographer in March by seeking out some of these sunsets. This post and the next will show some of my better results. Click on the image for a larger file to view and thanks for looking.
While out seeking sunset scenes, I noticed a bald eagle in the late afternoon light on a Lincoln County back road. Goes to show you won't find anything to photograph if you don't go and out and look for something!
